Why This Exists

Back in 2019, Deep in a 'research' hole I had fallen into, watching video after video of people flowing with a mace, I knew I wanted to learn what it was all about, but I couldn’t find a Steel Mace coach in Australia, let alone Melbourne.

So I became one.

Adding to my personal training qualifications, over the next few years I began diving deep
into both Steel Mace as a tool and Flow as a practice.
I became:
Steel Mace Flow Level 1 & 2 Coach - with Honors (2020 & 2021)
Certified Steel Mace Vinyasa Coach (Class of 2021)

Not to collect certifications -
but to understand the tool properly.

Steel mace isn’t a gimmick to me.
It’s a precision tool that has multiple benefits.

When taught correctly, it builds shoulder longevity, rotational strength, coordination, and real, transferable strength. It connects you to your inner Warrior. It can help you access flowstate.

It was one of the best decisions I ever made.

Now, if you’re searching for Steel Mace in Melbourne -
you don’t have to keep looking.

Why Steel Mace?

Steel mace builds:

  • Rotational strength
  • Shoulder resilience
  • Core integration
  • Coordination
  • Athletic, flowing movement

It looks cool.
But when learned properly, it also makes you feel:

  • Stronger
  • Smoother
  • More capable
  • Less fragile

When learned poorly...
It makes elbows and necks grumpy.
We avoid that.

Why Coaching Matters

YouTube Is Great. It Can’t See You.

If you’ve found me through YouTube - welcome.
YouTube can show you a 360.
It cannot:

  • Adjust your grip tension
  • Notice your ribcage flaring
  • Fix your timing
  • Tell you why your neck is doing everything

That’s where coaching matters.
I specialise in:

  • Clean 360 + 10-to-2 mechanics
  • Breath-led rotation
  • Shoulder-friendly technique
  • Building flow from foundations
  • Progressing in difficulty without ego chaos

This isn’t “spin until tired.”
It’s skill-based strength training.

    Why Mace & Flow

    Control first. Then power.

Strength doesn’t need to feel chaotic.

When movement is repeated with attention, your body stops fighting itself.

Over time, it becomes smoother. More controlled. More reliable.

    That’s where flow begins.

Steel mace training is one expression of what we do at Mace & Flow - skill-based strength coaching designed to build strength you can actually trust.

    FAQ

    Frequently Asked Questions

Is steel mace good for beginners?
Yes. Steel mace is skill-based, so starting with coaching is the easiest way to build clean mechanics and avoid turning your neck and elbows into collateral damage.
Do I need to be strong before I start?
No. The point is to build strength through skill, timing, and control. We start where you are and earn the progressions without ego chaos.
    Where are in-person sessions based?
In-person steel mace coaching is based in Travancore - near Ascot Vale and Moonee Ponds, 5km from the CBD.
Can I work with you online?
Yes. 1:1 online coaching is available, and it is still technique-focused. You get eyes on your movement, not just generic videos.
What is the best way to start?
Start with the Mace and Flow mailing list if you want the practical basics first, then book a Flow Call when you are ready for coaching.
    What is a Flow Call?
